Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Screening
The STOP-BANG questionnaire (Chung et al., 2008) is a validated 8-item bedside screening tool for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). It carries 4 subjective items (Snore, Tired, Observed apnoea, Pressure) and 4 objective items (BMI, Age, Neck, Gender). Each “Yes” counts as 1 point.

a diagnosis. Patients identified as intermediate or high risk should be considered for sleep studies
(polysomnography or home sleep apnoea testing) before elective surgery, and OSA-aware perioperative
planning should be in place (airway, opioids, post-op monitoring). The developer accepts no liability
